13 Journal Prompts for Self-Love

I had just ended a 10 year relationship with someone I had been with since high school, and I had no idea who I was without him. This is when journaling really became a part of my life, and why The Journal Deck, an oracle card deck meets journal prompts, came to me as an idea that I couldn't let go of.

What does it mean to heal? What does it mean to truly love yourself? And how on earth do we get there?

Trust me, if it were easy then we would all be walking around blissfully basking in our own awesomeness. It isn't some black and white journey where one size fits all.

Self-love and healing comes to us exactly the way we need it, and exactly when we need it.

When him and I finally decided to honestly let our relationship go (no more gray area), I could literally feel strings detaching. I loved him deeply, but I also had come to the conclusion that neither him nor I could truly heal our wounds or ever fully love the other person the way they deserved until we learned who we were – and loved who we were.
Not him and I, just me. Who was I?

It hurt like hell, but as soon as I made the decision to go, synchronicity took over. I called this "the summer of abundance" because I have never made more money or felt more in the flow with my own life. (Synchronicity which I now refer to as #weirdnotweird.) I hired a life coach for 6 months, and she assigned me journal prompts to get down-to-business and figure things out, which I discuss in my Podcast Interview with Little Box of Rocks Founder, Kiera Fogg.

At the same time, I was also running a coaching business and assigning prompts to my clients too. It's funny, but we learn what we need to know and our clients end up teaching us so much along the way. During this summer I also led my very first yoga retreat, which was a dream come true. I was able to hire a marketing consultant to help me, I had a full list of coaching clients, I traveled to a women's yoga camp in the woods and cried once every day, I went on a girl's book tour trip to NYC, the list goes on.

Life was truly abundant.

So how did I get to this point? Well, I moved home to be with those who loved me. I prayed daily to the Universe for my partner's and my own healing, for wisdom, for signs, for protection and guidance, for abundance. And I spoke my gratitude out loud to myself to the point of tears at times (it works). Even the sunshine made me grateful. I chanted in meditation. Sa Ta Na Ma. I did yoga outside on my back deck with the warm air. I listened to the crickets in silence and stargazed on the same deck almost every night by myself. And I journaled quietly.....

I'm happy to say that this man and I got back together and are very very happy, but I am confident in saying that it was only through learning to love ourselves wholly that we could ever fully show up for the other.
